The hotel is stunning with the incredible decor and gardens and view! The staff was friendly and very helpful. Our room was a corner porch and had a great view. However, the carpeting in our room, had several bleach stains and seemed heavily worn. We also noticed some more carpeting on a lot of the staircases seemed worn, like a lot of the hotel could use some upkeep. We ate one night in the main dining area with the five course meal and it really was not very impressive. The ambience was great, service great. Food was like wedding food. We got the Osso Bucco and it was rubbery and the polenta was hard (not creamy) some of the other dishes were over salted and the bumpy cake was not very good. We ate at the Cupelo bar one day and the view is incredible! Our sandwich was very good, however my husband‘s martini cost $40! We also had bloody Mary’s the previous day that were $24 each. I’m just saying these prices for the mixed drinks were extremely inflated.

One of THE best stays we've ever had. The staff is ON POINT. Everything is taken care of, from the luggage off the ferry straight to our room, to the amazing staff of the Main Dining room. The Services department staff were so pleasant too. Every staff member we met in the halls greeted us.

We stayed two nights at the Grand Hotel for our anniversary, and it was unforgettable. The 4th floor added a little extra mystery — I was even woken at 3 AM by the sound of balls rolling overhead, a fun twist on the island’s ghost stories. Meals in the Main Dining Room were a highlight, and the staff keeps traditions alive beautifully. Early mornings brought the clip-clop of delivery horses, barns bustling, and the kitchen already prepping breakfast — the island wakes up gently, and it’s magical to witness. Tips: Take a private carriage tour for a quieter experience, rent a bike for the island loop, and pack washable shoes since the streets are shared with horses. The Grand Hotel is part history, part elegance, part storybook charm — it’s not modern, and that’s the magic. Google would not let me add pictures

Came for our anniversary to participate in the murder mystery weekend. Amazing! The Murder Mystery event was so much fun! The Murder Mystery Company put on a great show. Highly recommend. The hotel service and staff were friendly and it was an excellent over all experience.

My sister and I had a wonderful stay at the Grand Hotel. It was everything that we were hoping it would be. Our room, #196, was beautiful with lovely floral wallpaper and our own balcony where we enjoyed morning coffee. In the afternoon we relaxed in comfortable rocking chairs and enjoyed tea on the Grand's famous porch, the largest in the world. The dining room is grand indeed and the meals were delicious. On our second day we took a carriage tour around the island that was cozy, fun and informative, and in mid October the Fall colors were at peak. It was a lovely trip and I recommend it to anyone who has the opportunity to go.

Each and every time I come to the Grand Hotel it’s memorable! The decor of the hotel is “grand” for sure. But it’s the people. They are kind and always willing to help you in every situation… especially in the dining room! Smiles and sweetness are abounding all over the room! They will do just about anything to satisfy you! I’m so excited when I know I’m coming to stay a few days at the Grand Hotel on the infamous Mackinac Island.

Beautiful, historic, elegant, inspiring. Mackinac island's Grand Hotel is a destination worth the journey, and worth saving-up a few coins to visit (day pass) or stay. So Much to see (quick walk thru video attached) or simply be part (and take part) of the experiences. Fast tips: Try to catch an afternoon tea or evening coffee with classical musicians at the Parlor level. Notes about evening formal wear apply to the Parlor level, resort casual is accepted all other locations in the evenings. If stairs are OK visit the Cupola bar at the top of the hotel for the views and the music. Horse-drawn taxis are $9 each way per person to 'downtown or back, cash preferred. Walking to downtown and back is generally easy, with great views and you'll pass by the Gate House restaurant. Many bicycles can be rented. Great hiking to the Carriage House (free venue), Fort (entrance fee, but worth it 'cause cannon demo's), arch and Watchtower (free), and shopping ... also Somewhere In Time movie sites (free). Save money on eats via the lobby level coffee & provisions shop and absolutely try the cherry+chocolate croissant because you'll tell friends and strangers how spectacular it tastes warmed up, plus cost-friendly take home cherry treats. Beers are typically $9 on most bars which might save on bevvie budget. In town, Pink Pony is a great eating spot, and 1852 Grill Room is elegant with superior food and drinks and service but do ice down your credit card after a visit (worth it for a celebration dinner). One thing to note ... accept the horse aroma, just watch where you step; you'll be living in the 1880s world of transportation and the road apples are plentiful. Grand Hotel is a grand celebration on Mackinac Island; a feast for mind and spirit, a joy to be shared with special ones dear to you, travelers.

As part of a bus tour from Canada, we spent the day visiting Mackinac Island The Grand Hotel feels like stepping back in time. The buffet lunch was enjoyable my favourites were the desserts! You have to try the grand pecan ball chocolate station, and the Michigan bumpy cake. The front porch is the length of two football fields filled with white rocking chairs and a view of the grounds Find the Secret Garden you won’t be disappointed I
